GWRRA - Nevada District Assistant District Director's Bio Page
Larry and Teri Bio
We started
our GWRRA “life” in 1999, by attending meetings with Ohio Chapter A-2 out of
Hamilton, OH. Hamilton is a suburb NW of Cincinnati. At the time, Teri and I
were dating and one of our first “day” dates was to participate in Chapter A-2’s
road rally. It was a long day, on our ’85 Aspencade, as the rally covered about
100 miles around the greater Cincinnati area. We ended up winning first place
for time and correctly answered questions – and, with that, we were “hooked”.
A couple
of months into “our” Chapter and GWRRA life, we were asked to be assistant
Chapter Directors, which we gladly accepted. By then, we had already rode
several 1500’s - one of the first times was at our first Wing Ding in
Springfield, MO – so, needless to say, we were hooked on getting a 1500. A few
months later we located a used 1500 SE via the internet, in Indianapolis, IN.
The owner was gracious enough to let us invade his garage at 9PM - and we fell
instantly “in love” with was to become our ’97 Pearl Glacier white SE.
After
about 1 ½ years, we stepped up as Chapter Directors for OH – A-2. We had GREAT
fun. The two years seemed to fly by. There were mall show, road rally’s, just
plain old “show your chrome” rally’s, bake sales, craft sales, BBQ’s, leaf color
rides, and rides to just about every point of interest imaginable. Did we
mention ice cream rides?? Oh my – can’t forget our weekly Tuesday night ice
cream rides.
We shared
“our” chapter’s time with our sister chapters in the Cincinnati area, X-2, L,
and E-2. We (A-2) enjoyed a wonderful and a very ”competitive friendly”
experience with all of our sister chapters. With careful planning, all four
chapters were able to schedule events with hardly any conflict therefore we were
all able to attend each others “functions” – building a strong GWRRA family in
the Cincinnati area.
During all
of this time, Teri and I were still “dating”. With all of the different four
chapter’s functions, most all of our dates were “Wing” related. Teri and I
became “one” in September 2003. Again, “Misty”, as we called our Wing, was a
main part of that occasion as we took her, and our “Pod” trailer, on a 5 day
honeymoon to Florida. Did I mention that it tends to be fairly stormy in
Florida in September? (we all remember Katrina) Fortunately, we didn’t run into
any hurricanes, but needless to say, we found out that our Frogg Toggs work very
well.
We lived
in Mason, OH, in a two bedroom condo, with our two Schnauzers, McKenzie and
Sterling (both females – now the odds are three to one). Our bike inventory
grew when Teri graduated from the basic MSF course and earned her endorsement on
her license. She has an ’89 pearl white Pacific Coast and a ’99 Suzuki
Intruder. My “other” ride is a “classic” ALL STOCK ’76 GL 1000 with less than
10,000 miles on the odometer.
We moved to the beautiful
Las Vegas area in April of ’04. After a brief stay in a rental house, we found
our “dream” home in Green Valley. I am a project manager for a trade show
display manufacturing company, located in N. Las Vegas and Teri is an
Administrative Asst for a third
party administrator of medical insurance.
We are looking forward to this
new GWRRA “adventure” and we are excited to be assisting Steve and Robin in
their effort to make the NV district the best district in Region F. We hope to
be able to meet all of the members in the NV district – so if we don’t come up
and introduce ourselves, please come over and say “Hi”!

“Friends for Fun, Safety, and Knowledge”,

Teri Ivie
